SAGD Problem

In a large SAGD manufacturing facility, we installed Historian and Visualization. Operations required near-real-time plant and field data viewing. To maximize data potential, we needed a flexible visualization tool. We automated data integration and validation for efficiency.

OUR SOLUTION

Capstone created a complicated, integrated facility operation solution using Dataparc Historian, Parcview visualization, and custom apps. We built up DataParc to gather approximately 100,000 data streams for near-real-time replication to the main office.

Capstone created many custom.NET programs to fulfill extra needs:

  • Automated Data Validation: This application used system-defined rules to automatically collect and validate important plant data. The system alerted the appropriate staff to take corrective action when it detected anomalies.
  • The Data Validation webpage is a user-friendly ASP.NET application that lets users set up validation rules and edit data.
  • We used scheduled jobs to integrate production accounting data into the enterprise system.
  • Automated well-test data collection: We developed a custom C#.NET application to record good test data in real time as field devices captured it.
  • Enterprise Integration: Customized interfaces with other enterprise applications enabled data synchronization and business process automation.

THE RESULTS

The facility opened rapidly, allowing the client to increase output to target levels. The solution helped operations and engineers troubleshoot and find the source. Since the facility opened, we’ve worked with the client to develop the architecture and automate processes. The open architecture has developed with expansions to enable more integration and business process efficiency.
